Picture retakes will be from 8:00 - 10:30 in the Media Center on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Students should visit the Media Center in between classes or with their teacher's permission during class.

After learning about atoms and their structure, Mr. Clyne and Mr. Achim used their students to make a “Human Periodic Table” as a formative assessment to gauge student understanding of the atomic structure and how that structure relates to each elements position on the periodic table. Students were instructed to organize themselves into the periodic table (without talking) based off the element that they were given and that element’s atomic structure.

Tickets are on sale now during lunch and before and after school for $20! Prices will increase to $25 the week of October 3! |

Fall Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 3:30 - 6:30 pm. We look forward to meeting parents and guardians and discussing student progress this fall!

WIN A PERSONAL BAND PERFORMANCE
You've seen and heard the Falcon Marching Band play at football games, parades and at RHS pep assemblies! Now imagine the entire FMB in full uniform marching to your home (or business) and playing directly in front of you, loved ones, neighbors and visitors! The chance is yours to "win" the band in a raffle being held until half time of this Friday's Homecoming game! The tickets are just $3 each and may be purchased either at the game or through Command Performance chairperson Ms. Carol Pleune at 248-396-3406 or carolpleune@comcast.net. NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARS
This year RHS has five National Merit Semi-Finalist Scholars. The National Merit Scholarship Program is a nationwide competition based on Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test scores taken last October. Of the 1.6 million students who were entered the National Merit Scholarship Program these five students placed among the top 16,000 in the nation and will now have the opportunity to continue in the Merit Scholarship competition. Congratulations to Dipra Debnath, Mark Landry, Shreyans Munot, Cameron Page, and Andrew Smith!
COMMENDED STUDENTS
Rochester High has five Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. These five students scored in the top 50,000, out of 1.6 million students, for the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Congratulations to Owen Bennett, Harrison Catlin, Zachary DeLang, Olivia Yee, and Eric Yezzi!
INTERNATIONAL CONNECTION
On Thursday, September 29 RHS had an International Connector event. Our upper level foreign language learners met with foreign exchange students and new students who moved from foreign countries to build relationships and learn about the RHS school culture. In specific, explaining Homecoming and all of the festivities surrounding the week to prepare students for the spirited week we have coming up!

Parking permit privileges began to be enforced on Monday, September 12. Select students were given directive to park north of the white line in the staff parking lot. All other students should park in their designated lots. Students without a parking permit or parking in the wrong area may be given a ticket by Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

ANOTHER RECORD MEET FOR SWIM
RHS Girls Swim Team beat Stoney Creek in a dual meet on Saturday, September 25 with a score of 114 to 69. The 200 Medley Relay team made of Victoria Thor, Grace Forlines, Sophie Smythe, and Manuela Mura achieved a state cut time to qualify them for the State meet in November. Victoria Thor also has several individual event qualifying times for the state meet. RHS Swimmer Manuela Mura swam the fastest 100 Backstroke the Stoney Creek High School pool has ever seen. Manuela’s name and new pool record time of 1.02.02 will be added to the board at the SCHS pool!
